▶ Overview

SafeTech Research is unparalleled in ship operation simulator technology in Korea and provides integrated simulator solutions that combine various software and hardware.

  • Developed technologies related to ship handling simulator/simulation since 1984.
  • Developed ship dynamics modeling, 3D topography modeling, software-hardware interface design, and visibility recreation system design technology, etc.
  • Completed the development of full-mission bridge ship handling simulator (FMB) from 1997 into its own technology; continuously improved the performance since then
  • Currently used for new ship handling simulator development and equipment development to improve maritime safety
            - Installed various navigation equipments used in the bridge of regular ships
  • Owns the ability of using various kinds of Graphic Engine technology that can meet the various needs of users
            - Awards an international ship classification (KR- Korea Register of Shipping) Category-F Certification in compliance with IMO STCW Convention

▶ Bridge

  • Bridge consists of an operation compartment mockup similar to the actual ship and virtual environment based on image generation system
  • The virtual environment based on image generation system consists of screen and beam projector or monitor
  • Inside Mock Up, there exists various equipment such as engine control console, steering console, ECDIS console, RADAR console, ODD, gyro compass, etc.
  • Performs operation and navigation training using the navigational equipment of bridge

▶ Instructor Operation Station

  • Operation station consists of control console and bridge visual monitoring system, CCTV, data/voice recording device, communications equipment, etc.
  • Performs simulation through scenario editing, training execution, training monitoring, for pre-defined virtual environment conditions, etc.

▶ Briefing Room

  • Briefing Room consists of electronic lecture desk, beam projector, and screen for briefing

▶ International ship classification certifications (KR)

  • Obtained the following certifications from the Korea Register of Shipping(KR) related to the manufacturing ability and performance of ship handling simulator system, implying the full compliance with IMO STCW Convention

▶ Education and Training of Crew

  • Training for basic navigation technology, control technology, port entry/departure, and berthing
  • Training for familiarization with the waters and ship characteristics
  • BRM(Bridge Resource Management) Teamwork training within the bridge
  • Special training such as emergency situations on the ship, which are difficult to train in real ship

  • Maritime traffic safety assessment based on the maritime traffic safety audit guidelines of Korea government

  • Re-generate the process of maritime accident occurrence (physical modeling and 3D reproduction)
